I am a fan of many Canadian rock bands, because personally, I believe they are second to none. Anyways, I was watching an internet video of a interview with Paul Laglois from the Hip. At one point he mentioned that Gord Sinclair from The Hip will be producing the next Trews album. Of course listening to a video clip, I took a double take, and swore I heard thats what he said. First off, a new Trews album sounds awesome! Second, the Hip being incorporated in the production of it would put it over the top!

Ive been waiting for new trews for a long time and cant wait for the new album. From what ive heard live and what ive heard by cruising around youtube, looks like this record may be there best. Heres just a list of new songs that ive seen in setlists or heard live
People of the deer One by one Love is the real thing Mandy You gotta let me in Burned Dreamin man I'll find someone who will Hope and ruin Stay Misery World I know If you want to start again (Heard colin mention this one in an interview on youtube) Power of positive drinking Bad luck blues (saw this on a setlist and wasnt sure if it was a cover or a new tune)
Lets get some buzz going about the new record. Im really excited to hear the studio versions of these tunes.

How do you guys feel about listening to live recordings of the new tunes? I find it so hard to restrain myself from hearing the new material even though it kinda spoils the surprise of the new record. I know when i heard love is the real thing for the first time from a video on youtube i was really disappointed but when i got to hear the song for myself live i was blown away and now think its one of their best songs to date. Funny how that works eh? How do you guys feel about listening to live bootlegs of new tunes?

I'm guilty of sharing some of those new songs on YouTube and although I struggled with sharing them vs keeping them to myself I finally decided the music was too good not to share. Sorry if I spoiled the surprise for you, but the music is just too good not to share.

Oh definitly the music was to good to not share! plus it creates some buzz about the new album instead of being totally in the dark as to what it will be like. Its totally not spoiled for me!

I love listening to what the boys have worked on! I think what those live recordings on youtube do is give a taste to what's to come. It doesn't totally satisfy but gives us just enough to want more...
Not to mention it causes some kind of familiarity to something new. For example, if you've heard a new song live, the next time you hear it makes you like it even more just because it sounds familiar to you.
So many artists hate that their new music has leaked (live or what not) before the finished product is released. I see it as making us want the physical hard copy in our hands even more.

In the past few years, I've always really really enjoyed getting to know the new stuff live before the albums came out; it's been so interesting to hear how they ended up recorded when compared to the live performances. This time around, I've heard most of what Travis has listed above at least once and I'm really looking forward to the new album because of them. Of course, I'm also dying to know if the song Colin sang a capella in London before Christmas is on there as well...it was rather, um...raunchy, to say the least.

"People Of The Deer" is hands down my favourite of the new songs I've heard, period. It smokes. Heard one last night called "Misery" that's really kind of cool, and oh my gawd, I LOVE "Mandy". "Power Of Positive Drinking" will always have a special place in my heart. ;D I think this has been the most excited Ive been for a new trews record. In all honesty I kinda hope Power of positive drinking isnt on the record and I only say that because its been around for so long. Im really eager to hear totally new material yanno? I love power of positive drinking as much as the next person and would love to hear a studio version of it. Maybe as a bonus track or something?
I was talking to Colin over christmas at pipers pub in antigonish about the new record and apparently Hope & ruin is going to be the first single and its coming out mid-february i guess. So im really excited for that cuz its coming up fast. Has anyone heard it?

Thanks Everyone!! I feel much better about sharing the new stuff I've captured on video. *sigh of relief* I really don't want to ruin the experience for anyone and although I'm not a professional videographer by any means its a lot of fun to capture the moment as they test it out during their shows. We did get to hear "Hope & Ruin" last night at their show in Hamilton (Humber College). It was great!! All of their new stuff that I've heard to date sounds different in every way. Often a new album has the same sound....not this one. Sorry, no video. We were also told that the promo stuff will be out in early March, but were not told when the official release will be. Thank you so much, Folks. I feel much better about sharing the new stuff that I've posted so far. Honestly, it all is starting to sound a little different as they play more and more gigs too. Word to the wise tho...if taping "People of the Deer" at any ACC Maple Leaf events, beware the dancing mascot bear. When I saw them do it at the Tailgate Party I tried to get the full video of it, but when that bear heard it he/she came running out of no where and decided to start a mosh pit where I was standing. That tail almost took me out!! Guess the deer & bears are friends in the forest.
