It's ironic that I'm tired of waiting but not ready to go.

Deeper into the Trews' covers
When I first heard the Trews play this song at the end of "Tired of Waiting" on Friends and Total Strangers, I knew it sounded familiar.
Besides my girlfriend, Susan, falling in love with Colin's vocals, I felt a close tie to the lyrics. It sounded like a plea to keep love pure, honest, and true. It seemed fitting for a world driven by sex and superficial relationships.
I needed to find out where I had heard this song before.
Then I found this video. Seeing Joe Tex sing this song in 1966 gave it a completely different meaning and significance. Joe probably was taken outside and brutalized; Joe probably was refused a piece of bread. Yet, he still pleaded for us to get love right.
Again, this sounds fitting for a world still torn by war.
I think we all need to stop, get it right, or leave love alone.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
